How Have A Roll grew with Shopify & Klaviyo

What started as a pandemic hobby in a small kitchen quickly rose to become one of Belgium’s most beloved vegan bakeries. Have A Roll captured hearts not only among vegans, but also with a broader audience, growing so rapidly that they opened four bakeries in Belgium and expanded to the Netherlands in just four years.

Their growth was driven by a strong social media presence and the power of word-of-mouth. However, they lacked a strong e-commerce setup. That’s when they turned to Radikal, looking to redesign their current Shopify Belgian and Dutch store into a conversion-focused, user-friendly platform that reflects their vibrant brand.

Bringing branding & UX together with Shopify

For a brand like Have A Roll, brand personality matters. Their playful tone of voice, bold colors, and delicious imagery are a key part of what makes them stand out. From day one, it was clear these elements needed to be prominent on the new site.

But as a Shopify Premier Partner, we at Radikal wanted to combine both the visual identity and the performance of the webshop with these key UX & conversion Improvements:

  • Homepage redesign: Organized key information (delivery options, flavors, and reviews) in a clean, easy-to-scan layout, despite the colorful visual identity.
  • Product detail page optimization: Added essential info like storage tips, pickup instructions, and Have A Roll's unique selling points.
  • Site speed: Ensured the site stayed fast and responsive while still featuring rich media like images and GIFs.
  • Actionable layouts: Strategically placed contact forms, strong CTAs, and social media links to drive user engagement.

Store pickup app integration

Can Shopify work for businesses that don’t actually sell online or ship products? Absolutely.

Have A Roll doesn't ship baked goods, but they needed a digital storefront to boost offline sales through pre-orders and local pickups.

We integrated the Genie Store Pickup app, allowing customers to schedule pickups at their preferred bakery. It turned out to be a simple solution that made their store feel truly digital-first without implementing traditional e-commerce logistics.

Building a community with Klaviyo email marketing

While Have A Roll already had a strong social media presence, they wanted a more personalized, data-driven way to connect with their audience and email marketing was the answer.

Using Klaviyo, we built a strategy to:

  • Collect zero-party data via pop-up signup forms and preference pages.
  • Create segments to send relevant campaigns (**e.g., with location-based segments, sending updates relevant to each person’s local bakery)
  • Automate flows like Welcome and Birthday emails, offering special incentives that improve loyalty and increase order rates.

Instagram and TikTok feeds

Social media has been central to Have A Roll’s growth story. To bridge the gap between content and commerce, we integrated InstaFeed and TikFeed apps into their Home and About Us pages.This helped drive traffic from site visitors back to social channels, strengthening their omnichannel presence and reinforcing their connection with a young audience.

Results

The impact of the Shopify redesign and the email marketing strategy was immediate and measurable. The new Belgian website saw a +33% increase in conversion rate, proving that the improved UX and Shopify optimization paid off. Meanwhile, Klaviyo email campaigns significantly boosted engagement, with standout performance across key metrics:
